Indian River Plantation is an award winning planned community of custom-built homes about a mile southeast of the Virginia Beach Municipal Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. There are 232 homes planned on 322 acres of land. The community is in the City Transition Zone. This means further development is limited.
A centurion style gatehouse and sculptured brick walls line the lushly landscaped entry. Flowering trellises, winding brick walkways and iron benches grace the edges of the main roadway and line the park areas. A sweeping bridge leads to a 50-foot diameter glass dome pavilion and a cascading waterfall. At night, the dome is lit and the lakes are highlighted with lighted fountains. Six area lakes with fountains, tennis courts, a playground and spectacularly landscaped grounds serve this community beautifully. The Virginian-Pilot describes Indian River Plantation as a "one-of-a-kind" gem.
